I am Stratos Tzanavaris, a designer based in Amsterdam and the other half of design studio Bomburo. Nice to meet you!
I aim to work on projects that initiate positive transformation at a societal, cultural, and environmental level. I feel accountable for the work I create, so I try to question stereotypes, challenge social norms and strive for fair representation.
I am skilled in helping my clients amplify their message, and I believe this skill comes with a responsibility to carefully choose and craft these messages. My values are aligned with safe2Choose and for this reason I'd love to collaborate with you.
I feel I could contribute to your cause in a meaningful way because of my experience in animation as well as my personal motivation to work on projects that have an actual positive impact on the lives of women around the world.
I've been doing motion design and animation since 2009. After learning the principles of animation during my bachelor's degree in TEI of Athens and in ESAD of Porto I worked as an animator and storyboard artist in Magikon, an animation advertising studio in Athens. In 2010 I was hired by the Greek Prime Minister's media department to work as a web designer. There I also had the opportunity to produce several motion graphics videos for the Greek government.
After moving to the Netherlands in 2012 I have been using animation in my work as a designer in several ways: I did character and UI animation for 6 serious mobile games, motion graphics for a series of psychology-themed youtube videos, animated logos for various clients and produced several self initiated animation projects.
Besides my animation work, I've been trained and worked as a graphic designer and a web designer. As a result I can apply my experience to both online and offline projects. I know how to apply branding guidelines with consistency and attention to detail. While working with advertising agency Interweave, I regularly produced social media content in the form of graphics and illustrations.
Additionally, while working at Bomburo I helped design several research papers for organisations such as the UN University and The Start Network.
Most of the projects that you see here are done as part of my work at Bomburo. The visual design is created in collaboration with my partner Silvia Celiberti while the animation has been done by me.
I animated all the characters and effects for 6 Yemeni serious mobile games. Here you can see a sample of the character's animations that went into the game.
Even though animation for games has different requirements than animation for video, the general principles of movement and the techniques used are the same.
This is an animated illustration inspired by the story of the Curumim sculpture in the Lagoa of Rio de Janeiro.
Above is a short animation I did to thank our friend Seb for inviting us on Dribbble. The assets where drawn by hand, the animation was done in After Effects.
Very often in my graphic design work I use movement to better communicate ideas or to add flavour to otherwise static visual elements such as icons.
In the above examples, I designed and animated a series of icons for a client's website, I animated a client's logo and created a playful message about the importance of good editorial design.
Working with Bomburo was an absolute pleasure.
They were incredibly professional and efficient and were able to take our ideas and translate them into concrete design outputs.
Moreover, they were very flexible in incorporating our feedback on an earlier version of the design and were able to turn around a product incredibly quickly. Their expertise in design greatly contributed to the excellent work they did.

Bomburo was able to seamlessly take data and turn it into digestible and informative infographics. This is a testament to their ability to turn complex ideas and concepts into creative digital assets.
